Now that we’ve got our WooCommerce hosting through Dreamhost we’re ready to add WordPress to our site.
WordPress is like the base structure of our website and its the framework that WooCommerce attaches to to build your shop.
Here is how we go about setting up a WordPress site ready for adding WooCommerce
It’s really easy to install and will only take a few minutes to do thanks to Dreamhosts simple dashboard set up.
In the same dropdown where we found Manage Domain in the last steps you will also find ‘One-Click Installs’.
Click on the WordPress option and you will get this screen.
Next to the ‘Install to’ you want to select your domain from the dropdown. Leave the ‘Select Database’ dropdown as Automatically Create Database. UNTICK the Deluxe Install and Install WP Website Build options (they will add bits we don’t need and slow down your site).
Click the ‘Install it for me now’ button and you will be shown this screen.
You will now be sent an email to the address you used to set-up your Dreamhost account with your log in details for WordPress, these can take a few minutes to come through so whilst we’re waiting lets sort your SSL certificate.
G back to the left-hand side and click on Manage Domains under the domain dropdown. You will see that our Domain currently shows HTTPS Not secure, it’s important that we fix this as we need to make it secure to be able to accept any payments through our website.
Click on the part that says HTTPS Not secure and you will get to this screen.
I use ‘Let’s Secure’ SSL certificates from my websites so we just click on the ‘Select this Certificate’ button and it’ll show us a Success! screen.
