Where to find the perfect Christmas SVG files

Everyone loves a bargain, right? One of the main things you want to try and do when running a small business it to keep an eye on costs and one of the best ways to save money on SVG files is buy buying Bundle deals – Design Bundles currently have The Christmas Craft Bundle Volume 4 for sale with over 50 SVG packages and worth £229.54 for just £17.97

There are enough files in there to keep you busy for weeks, it includes everything from quotes to use on t-shirts and Christmas PJ’s to chocolate holding cards (which are mega popular at the moment) to Christmas decoration deals and paper lanterns. To show you just how handy it is I’ve made every item in the post with cut files just from this bundle!

Free SVG’s?

Did you know that Design Bundles also has a big collection of Free Christmas SVG files that come with commercials licenses too so you can use them as Christmas crafts to make and sell too.

Easy Christmas Crafts to Make and Sell

Mini Christmas Sign

Materials

  • Mini Wooden Sign – BangOnBlanks
  • SVG File – Christmas Sign Bundle VOL.3
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Self-Adhesive Vinyl

How To

Give your wooden sign a thin base coat of white paint before painting it fully with a festive red. Whilst waiting for it to dry choose your design from the Christmas Sign Bundle and scale it to fit your mini sign. I choose to cut mine in white vinyl as it would stand out best on the red background and I also planned to add in some white accents after.

Cut and weed your vinyl, apply to your sign when the paint has fully dried and use a firm pressure to make sure it adheres well. To add a bit of a worn ‘farmhouse chic’ feel use a dry brushing technique to add white highlights around the edges of the sign.

Selling on Etsy

The larger version of these signs are big in America at the moment where people usually display them on their porches or front gardens – we don’t really have the space for that in the UK so a mini indoor/table top version is a great alternative. Similar items are currently selling for £10+ on Etsy which gives them a great profit margin. If you want to be found in searches on Etsy I’d suggest using keywords such as porch sign, holiday sign, rustic Christmas, farmhouse decor.

Ugly Sweater Milk Bottle

Materials

  • Red Milk Bottle – BangOnBlanks
  • SVG File – Christmas Sweater SVG
  • Self-adhesive Vinyl

How To

Using a measuring tape, measure the circumference of your water bottle and also measure how high up the bottle you want your design to come. In Design Space create a square/rectangle to layout the right size ‘print area’ and then upload the Christmas Sweater SVG. Unlock the padlock at the bottom of the left hand side of the image and manipulate the SVG to fit inside your print area, once you are happy with the proportions, click the lock again to set the file and cut your design. This one takes a little bit of time to weed but it is worth it for the effect it gives.

Clean the outside of our water bottle with an alcohol wipe (best way to get rid of any residue) and look to see if you can see a seam on it at all, this will help us when lining up the vinyl. If you can find a seam line, apply your the edge of your design to that and then wrap around the bottle, if you can’t find a seam line you can carefully line your design up with the bottom of the bottle.

Selling on Etsy

Water bottles are a BIG market on Etsy but so far, from what I can see from my searches, no-one is selling Christmas Jumper themed bottles so there is definitely a gap in the market as a bit of a novelty! Decorated bottles like this would generally sell for around £6 as they are a bit smaller than your normal water bottle but if you offer a personalised option you can charge a bit more. There are lots of keywords we can use to help advertise this but I’d opt for things along the lines of Christmas Jumper Bottle, Novelty gift, Christmas Eve Box, Elf Gift.

Christmas Oven Mit Cookie Kit

Materials

  • Oven Mit/Glove – Jess’s Craft Blanks
  • SVG File – Christmas Cookie Themed Pot Holder
  • HTV

How To

Measure your oven mit to see what sort of design area you are working with. Create a rectangle/square of the same proportions in Design Space and upload your SVGs from the Christmas Cookie file and resize to fit. Remember to ‘mirror’ your desings on your mat before cutting as we are using HTV. Once cut, weed your design and place it on your oven mit, using a heat press or an iron apply the HTV  making sure it adhered fully. You can supply this just as the oven mit or dress them up with a silicon spatula from eBay and a packet of cookie or cake mix and make it a gift set.

Selling on Etsy

These are another item that is very popular in the US at the moment and there aren’t many UK sellers so it’d a great trend to jump on. The ones that are currently being sold are priced around £6 plus postage. You want to male sure to include long tail keywords such as – Christmas Pot Holder, Christmas Baking kit and also short tail ones like – Christmas Baking, Christmas Cookies, holiday baking.

Santa Tray

Materials

  • Wooden Cutting Board
  • SVG File – Santa Tray
  • Self-Adhesive Vinyl

How To

Measure you tray and create a rectangle the same size on Design Space so that you know what size you need to fit your SVG to. Upload your design and adjust it to fit into your sizing rectangle, I chose to slice the design up and reposition it as I was using a smaller than average chopping board. Send you design to cut, weed it and apply to your chopping board. If you are struggling to get normal Self-adhesive Vinyl to stick (it can depend on the type of wood your board is) then why not look at using HTV on Wood.

Selling on Etsy

This is a pretty popular item to be selling on Etsy at the moment and prices cover quite a range with wood burned of engraved ones going for a higher price. If you offer a Santa Tray personalized with a name (‘Love from xxx’) they you can easily price it for £9 upwards. Use tags such as Christmas Treat Tray, Santas Treats, Xmas Treat Board, Christmas Eve Treats.

Personalised Bauble

Materials

  • Red Glitter Acrylic Baubles – Jess’s Craft Blanks
  • SVG File – Christmas Ornament Bundle
  • Self-Adhesive Vinyl

How To

Measure the width of your bauble and create a circle on Design Space with the same diameter so that you know the design area you are working to. Upload you chosen SVG file and size it to fit your circle. Send it to cut, weed your design and apply the transfer tape. The easiest way to position a decal on a rounded surface is to use something yo hold the bauble to your workspace (I use a bit of blutack) and then position yourself over the bauble so that you can see you are applying the vinyl perfectly straight. Work from the center outwards to avoid getting any bubbles in the vinyl, some designs are trickier than others so just take you time.

Selling on Etsy

There are a lot of baubles being sold on Etsy at the moment so the best way to stand out is to offer a set of baubles for a good price. Even numbers in a set work better than odd numbers so look to do sets of 4 or 6 rather than 3 or 5 and price accordingly with a small discount for more baubles in a set. I’d suggest offering a set of 4 for £16 or 6 for £20. Finding keywords for baubles is a bit difficult as the designs can vary so wildly, so in this case your pictures will do the majority of the selling for you. Make sure images are clear, show the scale/size of the decoration well and highlight any special textures/embellishments.

Hopefully this has given you some ideas for great Christmas Crafts to Make and Sell, remember to keep a note of the last uk posting dates for Christmas 2020 so that you can get your products out to customers in time!
